UK Riders Qualifiers leading to the UK Riders Championships

UK Riders provides a perfect opportunity for unaffiliated horse and rider combinations to aim for and take part in a championship competition. We strive to ensure our qualifying competitions are friendly and encouraging, and available to riders across the UK. Our current disciplines are Showjumping and Dressage. We hope to add In-Hand and Ridden Showing classes in 2019.


DRESSAGE
Our dressage competition starts at Intro and extends to Elementary. The qualifiers and championships are split into two sections, Junior and Senior. 

To qualify as a junior, competitors must be aged 16 or under on the 1st of September of the year preceding the championships. E.g., for the 2018 Championships, the competitor must be 16 or under on 1st September 2017.

SHOWJUMPING
Our showjumping starts at 40cm and classes go up to 1m. The qualifiers and championships are split into two sections, Junior and Senior. 

To qualify as a junior, competitors must be aged 16 or under on the 1st of September of the year preceding the championships. E.g. for the 2018 Championships, the competitor must be 16 or under on 1st September 2017.

UK RIDERS CHAMPIONSHIPS
To compete in the Championships, you need to qualify and must become a member of UK Riders. Qualification is a three-phase process.

Phase 1: Take part in a local qualifier between 1st September of the preceding year and mid-July of the Championship Year. Click on the drop down list of Qualifying Centres on the menu above to find a qualifying centre near you.

Phase 2: On attaining the relevant qualifying criteria (see Dressage Rules and Showjumping Rules), you need to become a member of UK Riders. You are then eligible take part in in the second round Regional Qualifiers. These are held between June and August at selected centres around the UK.

Phase 3: Successful combinations at the Regional Qualifiers can then take part in the UK Riders National Championships! To enter, you need to find the UK Riders Championships on the Equo Events website.

    All UK Riders Championships Competitions will run under normal UK Riders Competition Rules. The UK Riders Championships 2018 are kindly sponsored by Le Chameau, Master Bootmakers since 1927, producers of the original iconic, handcrafted rubber boot brand. Courtesy of their sponsorship, additional prizes will be awarded as follows:

    • Senior Showjumping: to the horse and rider combination completing a double clear and in the fastest time of the day. Should there be a draw, there will be a jump off to determine the winner.
    • Junior Showjumping: to the horse and rider combination completing a double clear and in the fastest time of the day. Should there be a draw, there will be a jump off to determine the winner.
    • Senior dressage: to the horse and rider combination with the highest percentage of the day. In the event of a draw, the prize will be given to the horse and rider combination with the highest collective marks. In the event there is still a draw, there will be a further test off between the two contestants.
    • Junior dressage: to the horse and rider combination with the highest percentage of the day. In the event of a draw, the prize will be given to the horse and rider combination with the highest collective marks. In the event there is still a draw, there will be a further test off between the two contestants.
